Roza Bataeva

after graduating from Medical Academy in Russia Dr Roza Bataeva started her medical career as a cardiologist. When ultrasound came to the clinical diagnostic field she was so impressed by its capabilities that she just moved to this area, ultrasound diagnostics, where she has worked around 15 years. She started to work with three-dimensional ultrasound in 2000.

She was one of the first specialists in Russia, who started to work with 3D ultrasound, applying it not only in prenatal diagnostics, but in also in radiology. One of her first scientific research projects with 3D ultrasound was a phantom study that was carried out using free-hand ultrasound techniques and based on volume measurement. She has more than 20 publications about three-dimensional ultrasound and got the PhD degree in ultrasound diagnostics in 2003.

As a Clinical Consultant of MEDISON, where she is working more for than 4 years now, her main interest today is still 3D Ultrasound. Dr Bataeva is very active in the education of 3D ultrasound; she provided more than 50 educational- and scientific lectures at international congresses, seminars and educational courses all over the world.

She made a DVD with Practical Guidelines how to perform volume analyses. Since heart is still her main interest she developed standardized protocols for assessment of fetal cardiac structures using 3D techniques and leads the interactive workshop at this course. During the workshops she will train the 3D ultrasound users how to do ‘off-line’ analysis of the fetal anatomy using 3D software and make ‘off-line’ diagnosis of congenital malformations.
