Marjolein bij de Vaate  
     

was born in Utrecht in 1979. She studied Biomedical Sciences between 1997 and 2004, and Medicine between 2000 and 2006 at the VU University in Amsterdam. She did a practical period at the Paediatrics department of the University of the North in Pietersburg, South Africa and an internship at the Kanti Children’s Hospital in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Since 2006 she is working as a PhD student at the department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of the VU University Medical Center in Amsterdam. The main topic of her research project is gynaecological 3D ultrasound. She is working on the SECURE project, which evaluates gynaecological side effects of the uterine caesarean scar. She has presented first results at the ISUOG International Scientific Meeting in St. Petersburg and received an award for her oral poster at the ISUOG World Congress in Chicago.
