was born in the U.K. and immigrated to Melbourne, Australia with her family in 1982. She took her degree in Medical Biophysics and Instrumental Science at Swinburne University of Technology in 1990 and obtained her first job in ultrasound as a vascular sonographer in 1991. Julie spent eight years at Peninsula Vascular Diagnostics, during this time she passed the Diploma of Medical Ultrasound (vascular) issued by the Australian Society of Ultrasound in Medicine (ASUM), participated in research projects and was in charge of the Preceptors Training Programme for vascular surgeons, radiologists and sonographers she was also made an accredited examiner for the Diploma of Medical Ultrasound. In 2000 a year was spent traveling around the world and working in private and public hospitals in London, U.K. as a vascular technologist. On her return to Australia she joined a large private medical imaging group now known as Symbion (formerly Mayne Health) where she retrained as a general sonographer and passed the Diploma of Medical Ultrasound (General) in 2004. Wanderlust again took hold and Europe was calling so she decided to move to the Netherlands with her husband towards the end of 2006, and applied for her current position with Medison as an Application specialist. She is also a staff member of the VU university medical center, where she actively participates in a number of the research activities of the Gynaecological department. |
