Franca Gerards

worked after her medical study as a sonographer at the department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of the VU University Medical Center in Amsterdam from 2001 until 2005. Since 2005 she was working at the VU MC as a resident at the OB/GYN department until recently.

During her time as a sonographer she gained a lot of knowledge on how to scan patients and she made her first 3-dimensional lung volumes, which may explain her interest in the fetal lung. During her residency she wrote five papers on the fetal lung using 3D ultrasound, which resulted to her PhD thesis called “Fetal Pulmonary Hypoplasia”  May 29, 2009
